LUBBOCK, Texas— Fort the first time in program history, the Adams State University women's basketball team capitalized late and pulled out a win over West Texas A&M University, 77-64.
The Grizzlies looked determined in the opening quarter of the game as they moved strategically and with precision. The Buffaloes responded well to each move the Grizzlies made but the Grizzlies maintained focused and worked their way through to the next quarter.
The Grizzlies started to make a statement in the second quarter as they continued to take command and build a lead. ASU displayed great teamwork as they stayed focused and secured the lead in the second quarter 43-34.
The Grizzlies were not going to let victory slip through their grasp ending with a final score 77-64.
RiRi Davis was the leading scorer for the Grizzlies with 21 points. Elaina Watson scored 14 and Kiiyani Anitielu scored 6.
The Grizzlies return to action on Sunday when they take on Lubbock Christian University (Texas) at the Rip Griffin Center at 4:00 p.m.
