LUBBOCK, Texas – The Adams State University Grizzly Softball team opened the first of three days of the 2023 Lubbock Sports College Invitational with a pair of losses.
Game 1: UT Permian Basin 9, Adams State 2
A five-run fifth inning was too much for the Grizzlies in the first game as the Grizzlies scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the fourth inning before the reigning Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Player of the Week
Mariah Madrid nailed a double to left field scoring
Kaia Bradford.
Neither team scored in the sixth or seventh inning.
The Grizzlies had eight hits in the game while surrendering two errors.
Jade Garbiso was tabbed with the loss after firing four innings giving up eight runs, six of them earned, on nine hits.
Jasmine Garbiso came in and fired the final three innings.
Game 2: #21 Lubbock Christian 10, Adams State 2 (5 inn.)
The No. 21 ranked team in the nation jumped out to a 2-0 lead entering the second inning before the Grizzlies clawed back into it with help from a wild pitch and a bases-loaded walk. The Chaps bounced back and got the two runs back in the bottom of the second one on an error and a double.
