BASE | Grizzlies split Saturday games in Oklahoma

WEATHERFORD, Okla. – The Adams State University Grizzlies were able to split a non-conference baseball doubleheader in Oklahoma on Saturday afternoon. The Grizzlies won the first game before being shut out 7-0 in the second game.
 
With the win the Grizzlies improve to 3-4 overall.
 
Game 1: Adams State 10, Southwest Oklahoma State 9
The Grizzlies were able to score five runs in two different innings as the Grizzlies scored fice in the top of the fifth and five in the top of the sixth. Defensively they gave up two in the bottom of the third and fifth innings.
 
The Grizzlies capitalized on several fielder's choices and errors to score their five runs in the first inning before the Bulldogs made the score 5-4 entering the top of the sixth inning,
 
In that sixth inning a two-run home run, a two-run double by Ryan Downs and another double by Mike Bathauer added five insurance runs in the top of the sixth.
 
Little did the Grizzlies know they would need every one of them as the Bulldogs scored five runs in the bottom of the seventh.
 
Game 2: Southwest Oklahoma State 7, Adams State 0
In the second game Cesar Loma was tabbed with the loss as he tossed 3.1 innings of work and surrendered six runs including three in the bottom of the first and the bottom of the fourth before the final run came across in the fifth inning.
 
In the game the Grizzlies only had four hits, all singles, compared to nine hits for the Bulldogs, five of which were extra base hits. The Bulldogs also capitalized on walks as they were issued six free passes.
 
Up Next
The Grizzlies will be back in action on Sunday when they take on Southwest Oklahoma State University in a single nine-inning affair on Sunday with first pitch scheduled for noon.
