GUNNISON, Colo.—The Grizzlies took a small group this weekend to try and gain a spot in the RMAC Championship as they competed at the Western Colorado Alumni Open.
To start the evening,
Jordan Spencer competed in the 60-meter hurdles and finished second overall. Spencer gave his best efforts in this event as he ran a time of 8.12.
Michale Fonseca showed great efforts in the men's 400 meters as he finished second overall. Fonseca's actions lead him to run a time of 50.70.
In the men's 60 meters, Lujan Thomas competed in the preliminary and ran 7.11. Lujan also competed in the men's 200 meters and finished in sixth with a time of 23.17.
Davonte Jett- Reynolds competed well in the men's mile as he made the right move to finish first with a time of 4:22.36.
Nathan Scherbarth also competed in this event and finished fourth with a time of 4:33.31.
Cameron Allan competed in the men's 800 meters and competed well as he made a move in the final stretch of the race to earn a first-place finish and ran 1:56.39. Jett- Reynolds stepped back onto the track to compete in this event and finished ninth with a time of 2:05.22.
In the men's 3,000 meters,
Aron Orar finished in third with a time of 8:53.21, followed by
Kailer Smith finished fourth with a time of 8:55.48. Armando Ortiz also competed in this event and finished sixth with a time of 9:02.12.
Papay Glaywulu competed in the men's long jump and finished first as he jumped 7.43 meters.
Camwrin Harris also competed in this event and finished in third as he jumped 6.44 meters.
Sam Dirkes competed well in the men's shot put as he finished first with a throw of 17.97 meters. James Waddles also competed in this event as he finished fifth and threw 14.67 meters.
On the women's side,
Alese Sartain competed in the women's 60 meters. Sartain competed well as she finished in third with a time of 7.79.
Caelyn Gomez also competed in this event and finished seventh with a time of 8.13. Gomez also competed in the women's long jump and finished sixth as she jumped 4.87 meters.
Stephanie Cotter was the lone grizzly that competed in the women's 3,000 meters. Cotter led wire to wire and ran a solid race as she ran a time of 10:00.72.
Up Next, the Grizzlies will prepare to compete at the Rocky Mountain Athletics Conference Indoor Championships, which will be held at the Adams State Indoor Bubble on Feb.24-Feb.25.
