SPEARFISH, S.D. – A see-saw affair lived up to its hype on Saturday evening as the Black Hills State Yellow Jackets and Adams State University Grizzlies entered the game with identical records and in a virtual tie for third place in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) women's basketball standings.
A late surge that saw the Yellow Jackets finish on a 9-3 run in the final three minutes of the game to get the 67-60 win and secure third place.
Black Hills jumped out to a 12-8 lead after the opening quarter before shooting 60 (9-of-15) percent from the field to take a 30-25 lead into the break. Black Hills State than outscored the Grizzlies 23-15 in the third quarter to take a three-point lead.
Adams State's scoring was pretty spread out with four different players scoring double digits.
Darlisha Reed and
Kiiyani Anitielu both scored 12 points while
Angelline Nageak and
Harmanie Dominguez each scored 11 points.
The Grizzlies return to action next Friday (Feb. 24) when they play Colorado School of Mines and Saturday (Feb. 25) when they play MSU Denver.
