ALAMOSA, Colo. -- The Adams State University women's basketball team built a 12-point lead after three quarters and held off New Mexico Highlands for a 75-68 win.
The win pushes the Grizzlies' record to 14-7 overall and 10-5 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. NMHU slips to 10-12, 5-11 in the RMAC.
The Grizzlies' Harmaine Domibguez scored 16 points. Two of her five baskets were from beyond the 3-point line.
Sharmayne Finley added 12, and
Elaina Watson poured in 10 points.Darisha Reed and Kiyani Anitielu pulled down four rebounds.
NMHU's top scorer was Juliana Aragon with 22 points. Three of her baskets were from long range. Neysa Munguia added 11 and pulled down 13 rebounds.
The game featured six ties and four lead changes. ASU made five more field goals and scored 13 points on second chance opportunities to Highlands' 10.
Next up for Adams State is an RMAC contest against Colorado State University-Pueblo at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4.
