ALBUQUERQUE, N.M—The Adams State Grizzlies headed back to the University of New Mexico for a third week in a row and complete against some stiff competition. The Grizzlies competed at the New Mexico Collegiate Classic and as they continue to give there full efforts to claw there way to the top of the national rankings.
FRIDAY
Dayton Brown showed great efforts in the men's 3000 meters as his efforts earned him a second place finish with a time of 8:27.96.
Aron Orar also competed in this event and gave his full efforts to earn a fifth place finish with a time of 8:36.50, followed by
Kailer Smith who finished sixth with a time of 8:42.64. Nathan Scherbath finished eight overall with a time of 8:49.60 and Jack Setser finished 13
th with a time of 9:15.34.
Cameron Harris competed in the men's long jump and finished 46th overall as he jumped 4.66 meters.
Chad Jackson raced well in the men's 400 meters as he finished 17th running a time of 49.38.
Michael Fonseca and
Neveh Jones also competed in this event. Jackson finished 32nd ( 50.60) and Jones finished 43rd (52.76).
David Cardenas continues to represent the Grizzlies well as he always gives his full efforts. Cardenas competed in the men's 800 meters and finished eighth overall clocking at 1:49.60.
In the women's 800 meter run
Jessica Simon gave her best efforts and finished 13th with a time of 2:18.40.
Laura Galvan competed well in the women's weighted throw as there was some tough competition. Galvan gave her best efforts to finish 36th overall as she threw 13.30 meters.
Saturday
James Waddles competed in flight three of the men's shot put and finished fourth as he threw 15.51 meters, followed by
James Hochanadel who finished seventh with a throw of 15.85 meters. Sam Dirkes finished second in flight three as he threw 17.25 meters.
Thomas Lujan competed in the men's 60 meters and finished 67th overall with a time of 7.31.
In the men's 60 meter hurdles
Jordan Spencer gave his best efforts to finish 33rd with a time of 8.48.
Mikah Piaz was the first grizzly to cross the line in the men's mile. Piaz gave a solid effort to finish third with a time of 4:09.72, followed by
Clement Duigou in fourth with a time of 4:10.94.
Michael Sherman competed in the men's 800 meters and finished 17th overall with a time of 1:55.30.
Lieke Hoogsteen competed well in the women's 800 meters as she finished fourth with a time of 2:11.20, followed by Rachel O'Brien who finished 5th (2:11.50).
The grizzlies were stacked in the women's mile as
Stephanie Cotter ran the number one time in Division II as she clocked at 4:47.33, followed by
Ava O'Connor in second (4:48.30), and
Brianna Robles in third (4:49.82). Maggie McCleskey also competed in this event and finished fifth (4:55.14), followed by
Morgan Hykes in sixth (4:55.14), Nicole Lawerence in 13th (5:03.61), and
Precious Robinson in 14th (5:07.13).
Up next, the grizzlies will be traveling to Boston, Mass. to compete at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational on Feb. 10th-11th.
