Alamosa, Colo.— The Grizzlies had an eventful weekend as they competed both and the New Mexico Spring Invitational and at the Jo Meaker Classic and Multi.
New Mexico Spring Invitational
Alese Sartain competed in the women's 100 meters and her efforts earned her a second-place finish as she ran a time of 12.18.
Lieke Hoogsteen ran well in the women's 800 meters as she finished in third place running a time of 2:08.96.
Mikaela Jonsson also competed in this event and finished 14
th running a time of 2:26.55.
Three Grizzlies competed in the women's 1500 meters and competed well.
Rachel O'Brien crossed the line first as she ran a time of 4:32.77, followed by
Amalia Dorion in second (4:34.84), and
Nicole Lawrence in fourth (4:36.08).
In the women's long jump
Caelyn Gomez finished in fourth place as she jumped 4.68 meters.
Laura Galvan gave great efforts in the
women's discuss as she finished in fourth throwing 34.06 meters.
On the men's side Thomas Lujan competed in the men's 100 meters and finished 11
th with a time of 11.52
Jordan Spencer and
Chad Jackson competed in the men's 200 meters and showed a solid effort. Spencer finished 11
th (22:21) and Jackson finished 12
th (22.68).
Jonah Vigil competed in the men's 400 meters and finished first with a time of 47.03.
In the men's 1500 meters
Davonte Jett-Reynolds's finished first with a time of 3:54.94 followed by
Mitchell Dervin in third (3:55.32), and Joaquin Herrera in 10
th (4:08.05).
Nevea Jones came in second in the men's
400 meter hurdles as he ran a time of 54.67.
Michael Fonseca also competed in this event and finished fifth with a time of 56.37.
Camwrin Harris competed in the men's long jump and finished in second as he jumped 6.58 meters.
In the men's shot put Sam Dirkes finished in first as he threw 16.16 meters, followed by
James Hochanadel in second who threw 15.50 meters.
In the
men's discuss
Jordan Larson finished in second as he threw 49.06 meters, followed by
James Waddles who finished in third (42.86 meters), and
James Hochanadel who finished in fourth (40.26 meters).
Jo Meaker Classic and Multi
Michaela Jonsson gave her best efforts in the men's 800 meters and finished in fifth place with a time of 2:21.42. Jonsson also earned a
first place finish in the women's 15,000 meters as she ran a time of 5:02.78.
Caelyn Gomez finished 17
th overall in the women's long jump as she jumped 4.98 meters. Gomez also competed in the women's 100 meters and finished 31
st with a time of 12.85.
Alese Sartain competed in the women's 100 meters and finished 16
th as she ran a time of 12.08. Sartain also competed in the women's 200 meters and finished in 28
th place as she ran a time of 25.86.
In the women's discus
Laura Galvan finished in 13
th place as she threw 34.99 meters.
On the men's side Sam Dirkes earned a
third place finish in the men's shot put as he threw 17.24 meters, followed by
James Waddles who earned a
ninth place finish as he threw 15.04 meters.
Camwrin Harris competed in the men's long jump and earned an eighth place finish as he jumped 7.05 meters.
Jordan Spencer competed in the men's
110 meter hurdles and finished 10
th as he ran a time of 16.94.
Chad Jackson competed in the men's 400 meters and finished 15
th as he ran a time of 49.43.
Thomas Lujan finished in 40
th in the men's 100 meters and ran a time of 11.27.
In the men's
400 meter hurdles Never Jones finished sixth with a time of 55.57 followed by,
Michael Fonseca who finished seventh with a time of 55.76.
Jonah Vigil showed great efforts in the men's 200 meters as he finished seventh as he ran a time of 20.87.
Up Next, the Grizzlies will be traveling to California to compete at Mt.SAC Relays and Bryan Clay Invitational from April 12
th- April 15
th.
