DENVER, Colo. – The Regis Rangers connected on 18-of-22 free throws in the second half thanks to 16 personal fouls to pull away late in Friday night's 80-68 Adam State University men's basketball loss inside the Regis Fieldhouse.
A close first half saw neither team really pull away but that is when the Grizzlies had their biggest lead of five points with a five-point advantage, 29-24. Adams State shot 40.7 percent (11-of-27) from the field to take a 31-29 lead into the break.
The second half saw Adams State hold their final lead with 15 minutes remaining when the score was 38-37. The Rangers outscored the Grizzlies 51-37 in the second half as the Grizzlies were whistled for 16 second half fouls. Adams State rallied late and pulled within nine points with stellar full court pressure, however, the hole was too much to overcome.
Chase Mayo Harmon was the leader for the Grizzlies with 28 points, 11 coming from the free throw line. The Grizzlies were led by
Destan Williams who scored 18 points.
The Grizzlies return to action on Saturday when they play at UCCS.
