ALAMOSA, Colo. – The Adams State University men's basketball team was able to score fifty points in both halves of a 104-77 runaway game over the Chadron State College Eagles on Saturday night inside Plachy Hall.
The first quarter commenced with the Grizzlies trading leads and ultimately with the Eagles earning their biggest lead of 18-12 with 12:41 left in the first. With the clock showing 1:41, the Eagles held their last lead at 42-41. The score would be all the Grizzlies needed as they closed out the first half on a 9-3 run to take a 50-44 halftime advantage.
The Grizzlies continued to hit on all cylinders in the second half hitting 62.5 percent (20-of-32) shots from the field including seven three-pointers to push the lead to as many as 31 points with two minutes left.
In the game the Grizzlies were impressive as they hit 38-of-65 (58.5 percent) of their shots from the field including 12-of-22 (54.5) percent from beyond the arch. Adams State was also strong at the
free throw line hitting 16-of-19.
Adams State was led by
Destan Williams' 24-point performance that included five rebounds and a team-high seven assists.
Jude Tapia added 19 points including 15 on a 5-of-7 showing from beyond the arch.
Adams State, who is now 5-12 overall and 3-8 in the RMAC, will return to action Friday when they travel to Salt Lake City for a match up with the Westminster Griffins at 7:00 p.m.
