MTF | Grizzlies continue record breaking ways

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.— For the second consecutive week, the Grizzlies' men's and women's Track & Field teams displayed notable performances at the UNM Team Open, with the men's and women's 4x400 meter relay setting a new school record as the highlight of the day.
 
Victoria Amiadamen, Jada Miller, Jessica Simon, and Isila Apkup accomplished a noteworthy achievement for Adams State University by establishing a fresh school record in the 4x400-meter relay event, recording a time of 3:44.13 seconds.
 
Not to be outdone, Elijah Hatcher, Ja'Warren Smith, David Cardenas, and Jonah Vigil secured another impressive record for Grizzlies in the men's 4x400 meter relay, clocking in at 3:13.37 seconds.
 
Elena Carey delivered an outstanding performance in the invitational mile run, securing the second position with an impressive time of 4:49.25. She was followed by Morgan Hykes, who claimed the third position with a commendable time of 4:52.25, and Maggie McCleskey, securing the fifth position with a strong time of 4:53.22.
 
Brianna Robles excelled in the mile run, claiming first place with a time of 4:52.87. Fiona Hawkins also put on a commendable performance in the same event, securing the third spot with a time of 4:57.24. Following Hawkins, Precious Robinson finished fifth with a time of 4:59.04, Amalia Dorion placed sixth with 4:59.93, Vienna Lahner took seventh with 5:01.38, Emily Schoellkopf placed 12th with a time of 5:07.98, and Reina Paredes finished 14th with 5:08.73.
 
Lieke Hoogsteen delivered a strong performance in the 800 Run Invitational, securing the fourth position with a time of 2: 13.02.
 
In the women's 3,000 meters, Robles led the Grizzlies, claiming fourth place with a time of 9:38.07. Precious Robinson followed closely behind in fifth place, clocking in at 9:52.59, while Emily Schoellkopf finished sixth with a time of 9:52.91. Vienna Lahner secured the 10th spot with a time of 10:06.19, followed by Riena Paredes in 15th place with a time of 10:15.68. Fiona Hawkins claimed 16th place with a time of 10:18.08, and Haley Harkrider finished in 26th place with a time of 10:40.06.
 
Alena Chaney's performance at the meet was notable across multiple events. In the women's 60 Hurdles preliminary round, she clocked a time of 8.96 seconds, securing the 21st position. Additionally, she showcased her jumping skills with a distance of 10.82 meters in the Triple Jump, earning her the 25th place. Furthermore, in the Long Jump event, she achieved a distance of 5.35 meters.
 
Jada Miller delivered a remarkable performance in the 200-meter dash unseeded category, securing the 16th position with a swift time of 24.69 seconds. Isila Apkup also competed in this event and showcased her speed, earning the 24th position with a time of 24.99 seconds, followed by Alese Sartain finishing in 32nd position with a solid time of 25.31 seconds.
 
Victoria Amiadamen competed in  unseeded 400-meter dash, securing the 11th position with a time of 56.33 seconds, followed by Jessica Simon finishing 26th with a time of 57.81 seconds.
 
On the men's side Dayton Brown demonstrated exceptional endurance and skill in the 3000-meter run, claiming the 3rd position with a time of 8:16.85. Juan Rosales also competed in this event, securing the 13th position with a commendable time of 8:32.53, followed by Elijah De La Cerda securing the 14th position with time of 8:35.76, and Micah Swann finishing 16th with a time of 8:42.36.
 
In the men's mile, Miguel Coca claimed the lead with an impressive time of 4:00.31, closely trailed by Romain Legendre at 4:01.30 and James Dunne at 4:01.60, securing the second and third spots, respectively. Dayton Brown also participated in this event, finishing sixth with a time of 4:11.38, followed by Yonas Haile in seventh at 4:12.35, David Milan in ninth with a time of 4:16.33, Carmelo Corral in 13th with 4:18.76, Micah Swan in 16th at 4:20.77, and Mikah Paiz in 25th with 4:29.07.
 
In the 800-meter run, Andrew O'Keefe showcased impressive speed and stamina, claiming the top spot with a notable time of 1: 53.67. Elijah De La Cerda also competed in this event and finished 28th with a time of 1:57.97.
 
Neveh Jones competed in the unseeded 400-meter dash, securing the 34th position with a time of 50.52 seconds at the meet followed by Ja'Warren Smith,  securing the 40th position with a time of 50.74.
 
James Hochanadel showcased his strength and technique in the Shot Put event, securing the 17th position with a distance of 15.05 meters, followed by Donovan Capes, securing the 24th position with a distance of 13.76 meters.
 
Up next, the Grizzlies will head to Albuquerque, N.M. to compete at the New Mexico Classic on Friday February 2nd and Saturday February 3rd.
