Grizzlies Sweep Chadron State 3-0 on Senior Night

Alamosa, Colo. – On Senior Day at Plachy Hall, Adams State University honored its veteran players with a dominant 3-0 sweep of Chadron State.

Cindy Garcia, one of the standout seniors, led the team with 16 kills, hitting an efficient .379, while fellow senior Angela Youngs contributed 13 kills with a remarkable .600 hitting percentage. The Grizzlies, now 5-14 overall and 2-6 in the RMAC, executed their game plan, recording set scores of 25-14, 25-23, and 25-15.

The second set proved to be the most challenging for Adams State, with 16 tie scores and seven lead changes. Despite the close contest, the Grizzlies leaned on their experienced seniors to pull through with a narrow 25-23 win, shifting momentum firmly in their favor.

Senior setter's Remi Vargas and Madeline Benally also played a pivotal role, dishing out 25 and19 assists respectively to guide the Grizzlies' offense and were key to Adams State's efficient .324 hitting percentage.

Chadron State (4-14, 0-8 RMAC) struggled to keep up with the Grizzlies' balanced attack, finishing with a .092 hitting percentage. The Eagles put up their best fight in the second set but ultimately couldn't keep pace.

"With it being senior night and half of our roster being in their final year,  It was really nice to see us be able to handle the emotional aspect of tonight and really execute our game plan. Our serving and defensive adjustments helped us pull away in set one and three and shift the game in our direction. I was not thrilled to be reminded of the only game that I have ever coached against Adams State during our seniors favorite memories. " said Head Coach Garcia Ramser.

The victory snapped a four game losing streak for Adams State, providing a confidence boost as they continue their conference schedule. With the seniors leading the way, the Grizzlies will look to build on this win and finish the season strong.

With an electric atmosphere that fueled the team's performance the seniors aren't waving goodbye to their home crowd just yet, as they will be home for their final game on November 7, for a Thursday night match. They will travel to Durango, Colo. Tuesday to face Fort Lewis before heading to Denver Friday for MSU Denver and Colorado School of Mines.
