Grizzlies Take Down UC-Colorado Springs in Commanding 3-1 Win

Colorado Springs, Colo. – Adams State pulled off an impressive 3-1 victory over UC-Colorado Springs on Halloween night, clinching the win with scores of 25-21, 26-28, 25-20, and 25-13 during the first game of the RMAC Power Pod.

The night was highlighted by Cindy Garcia's standout performance. Garcia was a force at the net, hitting a notable .419 with 24 kills on 43attempts, consistently breaking through the UC-Colorado Springs defense. Setter Remi Vargas expertly orchestrated the Grizzlies' offense, dishing out 26 assists and keeping the attack balanced and unpredictable. Sierra Sanchez anchored Adams State's defense with her solid presence in the back row.

After taking the first set 25-21, Adams State found themselves in a fierce battle during the second set. UC-Colorado Springs fought back, and the teams exchanged points until the very end, with UC-Colorado Springs edging out the set 28-26 to tie the match. However, Adams State responded with focus and intensity in the third set, maintaining control throughout and closing it out 25-20. The fourth set was all Grizzlies, as they surged ahead early and never looked back, overpowering UC-Colorado Springs with a commanding 25-13 final set score.

The Grizzlies' defense was a crucial factor in their success. They amassed a total of 13 team blocks, significantly limiting UC-Colorado Springs' scoring options and providing a solid wall at the net. Adams State's strong presence in the fourth set was evident as they closed out the match with authority.

"Today was the smoothest our offense has clicked this season. As a team things on that side of the ball felt very in control and as if we were able to dictate the majority of the match. We as a team feel as though we are hitting our stride at the right time and are looking forward to pushing for an RMAC Tournament spot," said Head Coach Garcia Ramser.

This victory improves Adams State's record to 8-15 overall and 3-7 in RMAC play, a strong step as they aim to climb further in the conference standings.
