Adams State Dominates Fort Lewis in Straight Sets Victory

Colorado Springs, Colo. – In a compelling neutral-site matchup on Friday, Adams State swept Fort Lewis 3-0 (25-23, 25-19, 25-17) at the Gallogly Events Center in Colorado Springs. Adams State improved their record to 8-15, with an impressive team attack percentage of .233, showcasing their offensive and defensive strengths.

Cindy Garcia led the way for the Grizzlies with 13 kills and a .370 hitting percentage, supported by Anna Huggins, who added 12 kills and contributed 14 digs. Setter Madeleine Benally orchestrated the offense with 16 assists, while Hadleigh Richardson and Huggins combined for key blocks, putting consistent pressure on the Fort Lewis attackers.

Fort Lewis kept pace in the first set, reaching a close 23-25, but Adams State's defense held firm, particularly in the back row where Keely-Shae Sapiga tallied 18 digs. Fort Lewis struggled to maintain momentum in subsequent sets, hitting just .105 as a team and facing relentless Adams State blocks that disrupted their rhythm. Despite strong performances from Lauren Shea, who recorded 12 kills, and Alina Nunez with 13 kills and 16 digs, Fort Lewis couldn't break through Adams State's solid defense.

Adams State will return home for their final game on Thursday, when they take on Western Colorado at 6 p.m.
