Canyon, Texas – The Adams State Grizzlies faced a tough challenge against the No. 2 ranked West Texas A&M Buffaloes, falling 112-76 on Thursday afternoon.
Nian Allen came off the bench to lead the Grizzlies, going 7-for-12 from the field, including one three-pointer and two free throws, for a team-high 17 points. Jude Tapia contributed 11 points and 4 assists, but foul trouble late in the game limited his impact. Ta'Veus Randle and Wyatt Helming each added 10 points to the Grizzlies' tally.
Adams State's bench contributed 36 points, and the team capitalized on 11 fast-break points to keep the game competitive in the first half. The Grizzlies also found success in the paint, scoring 42 of their points down low. They went into halftime trailing 47-42 but struggled to maintain momentum after the break.
The Buffaloes, now 5-0, overwhelmed Adams State with their depth and efficiency. They scored 54 points in the paint and added 33 fast-break points, with their bench contributing 34 points. West Texas A&M's relentless second-half surge, where they shot 65% from the field, sealed the game.
