Adams State Falls Short Against UCCS in Final Home Game 2-0

Box Score

Alamosa, Colo. – In a tough matchup, Adams State University fell to UC-Colorado Springs (UCCS) with a score of 2-0. The game, held at ASU Soccer Field, marked another challenging outing for Adams State, whose record moved to 2-12-2 overall and 0-10-1 in league play, while UCCS improved to 8-7-2 and 6-5-0 in conference.

The first goal came in the 20th minute, as UCCS's Emily Aguilar found the net with an assist from Fie Steenberg, putting the Mountain Lions up 1-0. Adams State's defense, anchored by goalkeeper Ashlyn Bartley, worked hard, with Bartley registering two saves, one in each half, to limit the damage.

However, UCCS extended their lead in the 55th minute. After Adams State's Molly Lancaster received a yellow card, Fie Steenberg capitalized on a penalty kick, sealing the final score at 2-0. Adams State managed only one shot on goal throughout the match, taken by Colette Tena in the 13th minute, which was saved by UCCS's goalkeeper, Alexa Malaspina.

Despite the loss, Adams State continued to show resilience and determination on their home field. They will look to rebound in their next match during their final match of the season on Wednesday when they travel to New Mexico Highlands for a 3 p.m. match.
