Alamosa, Colo. – Adams State University overwhelmed Northwest Indian College Friday afternoon, cruising to a 131-73 victory at Plachy Hall. The Grizzlies took control from the opening tip delivering one of their best offensive performances of the season.
Adams State poured in70 points in the first half, led by guard
Jude Tapia, who scored a team high 22 points while hitting six of eight attempts from 3-point range. Forward
Wyatt Helming contributed 21 points and nine rebounds as the Grizzlies controlled the paint and outpaced the Eagles in transition.
Adams State's defense set the tone, forcing 22 turnovers and recording 15 steals.
Jerrick Guidry and
Jaylen Alexander lead the effort, combining for five steals and 20 points. The Grizzlies turned defense into offense, scoring 40 points on the fast break and 62 points in the paint.
The Grizzlies' reserves played a key role, outscoring Northwest Indian's bench 59-27.
Harrison Frank added 17 points, shooting 5 of 6 from beyond the arc, while
Luke Williams chipped in nine points and two rebounds. Guidry dished out a game-high eight assists as Adams State totaled 26 assists on 51 made field goals.
The win evens Adams State's record at 6-6. The Grizzlies will take a significant break, before returning to RMAC play Jan. 9, when they travel to Salt Laje City to take on Westminster.
