Adams State Drops Road Contest to Westminster in Offensive Showcase

SALT LAKE CITY – Despite a strong offensive effort, Adams State fell to Westminster (UT) 107-95 in RMAC action Thursday night.

The Grizzlies (6-7, 1-4 RMAC) kept pace early, trailing just 50-45 at halftime after Luke Williams knocked down a pair of free throws to cut the deficit to five. They carried that momentum into the second half, as Cameron Kimble's steal led to a fast-break layup for Williams. However, Westminster (8-5, 2-3 RMAC) responded with a dominant offensive performance, outscoring Adams State 57-50 after the break behind balanced scoring and efficient shooting.

Williams and Jaylen Alexander led the charge for Adams State, each finishing with 21 points. Williams added nine rebounds and five assists, while Alexander shot an impressive 8-of-12 from the field. Ta'Veus Randle and John Harge contributed 12 and 10 points, respectively.

Westminster's Chase Potter proved difficult to contain, erupting for 31 points on 11-of-13 shooting, including three three-pointers. Donaval Avila followed with 22 points, while Parker Christensen filled the stat sheet with 17 points, six assists, and five rebounds.

Adams State shot a respectable 46.3% from the field but struggled to slow down the Griffins, who connected on 61.2% of their attempts. Westminster also dominated the glass, out-rebounding the Grizzlies 47-23.

Adams State looks to bounce back as they travel to Grand Junction, Colo., to face the Mesa Mavericks on Saturday at 3 p.m.
