ALAMOSA, Colo. – The Adams State University Grizzliesproudly sends four contenders to the U.S. Olympic trials in Orlando, Fla., in hopes of clinching a spot in the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics. The event begins at 10 a.m. in downtown Orlando, near Lake Eola Park.
Awet Beraki, reigning outdoor 5000m champion and a four-time All-American, is poised to make his debut on this prestigious stage.
Joining him is Kris Mugrage, Adams State sports psychology lecturer and two-time Columbus Marathon champion, showcasing the enduring legacy of Grizzly excellence.
The lone female Grizzly making her debut is Kaylee Bogina, part of the 2017 cross country team that made history by winning with the highest points in NCAA history (126 points) and in 2019 when they set the national record for the lowest point score in NCAA history (23 points). Bogina's brother,Austin, is also competing in the trials. They are believed to be the only brother-sister qualifiers in the event.
Sydney Gidabuday, is a true legend in Adams State history with an illustrious seven-time NCAA champion title to his name. His staggering achievements include rewriting the record books with his remarkable speed.
