ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — This weekend, a compact but formidable group from the Adams State track and field squad is ready to create a significant impression at the University of New Mexico Collegiate Classic hosted at the Albuquerque Convention Center.
 
During the 60-meter hurdles preliminaries, Alena Chaney claimed the 33rd position with an impressive time of 9.04 seconds. Additionally, in the long jump event, she exhibited her versatility by leaping 5.45 meters and securing the 32nd place.
 
Victoria Amiadamen, recognized for her speed and stamina, approaches the unseeded 400-meter dash event with determination. Crossing the finish line in a swift 55.66 seconds, she secures a strong sixth-place finish.
 
John Hochanadel, a formidable presence in the throwing disciplines, showcases his strength and technique in the weight throw event. Notching a distance of 17.19 meters, Hochanadel secured the 13th position.
 
In the Shot-Put event, James Hochanadel threw for a distance of 16.09 meters, clinching the 11th spot in the competition. Donovan Capes also contested in this event, recording a throw of 13.58 meters, which landed him in 21st place.
 
Nathan Scherbarth secured a commendable 6th place in the men's mile, crossing the finish line at 4:17.05. Zak Beckwith, in the same event, finished in 11th place, with a time of 4:27.59.
 
Meanwhile, Jake Beckwith demonstrated his speed and tactical prowess in the 800 Run event, claiming the 8th position, he completed the race in 1:55.06.
 
The Grizzlies are gearing up to hit the track again, ready to compete in two consecutive events. On February 9th (Friday) at 9:00 a.m. EST, some of the Grizzlies will be at the David Hemrey Valentine Invitational, hosted at the Boston University Track and Tennis Center in Boston, Massachusetts. Others will make their way to the Jarvis Scott Open, taking place at the Texas Tech Sports Performance Center in Lubbock, Texas.
 
Their action-packed schedule continues on February 10th (Saturday) at 9:00 a.m. EST, returning to the David Hemrey Valentine Invitational in Boston. Following this, at 10:00 a.m. CST, they'll be back at the Jarvis Scott Open in Lubbock.
