Albuquerque, NM—Among the contenders, Adams State's track and field team emerged as a dominant force, securing impressive results across multiple disciplines at there season opener.
Alena Chaney showcased her agility and technique, representing Adams State admirably with a second-place finish in the 100 hurdles event, clocking in at 15.03 seconds.
Isila Apkup represented Adams State with remarkable speed, clinching the second position with a time of 12.00 seconds in the women's 100 meters.
Apkup continued her stellar performance in the 200 meters event, securing another second-place finish with a time of 24.28 seconds.
Jada Miller, also from Adams State, showcased her prowess by claiming third place with a time of 24.46 seconds.
Alese Sartain surged ahead to claim victory for Adams State in the 400 meters event, crossing the finish line in 56.57 seconds.
Gracie Hyde led the charge for Adams State in the 800 meters event, securing the top position with an impressive time of 2:05.17.
Jessica Simon followed closely behind, clinching second place with a time of 2:10.56.
Nicole Lawrence and
Amalia Dorion also delivered commendable performances, securing third (2:18.43) and fourth (2:20.26) positions respectively.
Adams State's dominance extended to the 1500 meters, with
Brianna Robles securing second place with a time of 4:27.50. Following closely behind was
Morgan Hykes, who displayed her resilience by securing fourth place with a time of 4:29.26.
Precious Robinson and Tristian Spence continued the team's success, securing sixth and seventh positions respectively with times of 4:35.73 and 4:36.33. The depth of Adams State's talent was further demonstrated by
Amalia Dorion finishing ninth with a time of 4:36.84.
Lieke Hoogsteen closely followed, securing the tenth position with a time of 4:38.31.
Nicole Lawrence crossed the line at 4:39.35, earning her the 11
th position.
Fiona Hawkins crossed the finish line at 4:43.02, securing 12
th place.

In the women's 4x400 relay Apkup, Sartain, Miller, and Amiadamen delivered a stellar performance, clinching the top position with a time of 3:47.32.
In the field events Alena Chaney showcased her versatility by securing sixth place in the long jump event with a distance of 5.47 meters, demonstrating her ability to excel in multiple disciplines.
In the javelin event, Lauren O'Campo and Liana Fernandez represented Adams State admirably, securing third ( 39.16 meters) and fifth (32.02 meters) positions respectively with impressive throws, highlighting their strength and precision.
On the men's side,
Brandon Guzman from Adams State recorded a time of 23.83 seconds in the men's 200 meters.
For the Men's 400 Meters,
Ja'Warren Smith of Adams State completed the race in 49.20 seconds.
Adams State athletes excelled in the Men's 800 Meters, with
Jake Beckwith finishing first at 1:56.48, followed by
Carmelo Corral in second place with a time of 1:57.25, and
Kien Cogley securing fourth place with a time of 2:02.74.
In the Men's 1500 Meters,
Romain Legendre claimed second place for Adams State with a time of 3:46.01.
Mitchell Dervin finished sixth at 3:53.50, Emil Bezeckny took seventh place at 3:58.49, Nathan Scherbarth finished eighth with a time of 3:59.24,
Elijah De La Cerda secured ninth place at 4:01.43,
Kailer Smith finished 11
th at 4:05.19,
Carmelo Corral finished 13

Moving to the Men's 400 Hurdles,
Neveh Jones of Adams State finished second with a time of 54.16 seconds.
In the men's 4x 400 Relay, comprised of Hatcher, Jones, Smith, and O'Keefe, secured third place with a time of 3:27.81.
Up next, on March 29th (Friday), Adams State's track and field team has meets at both the CSU Pueblo Open in Pueblo, Colorado, and the Stanford Invitational in Stanford, California. On March 30th (Saturday), they will continue competing at the Stanford Invitational and in CSU Open.
