Alamosa, Colo. - Next week, the Adams State men's and women's track and field teams will be heading to the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, which will be held from May 24-26 in Emporia, Kansas. They will compete Thursday through Saturday. More information regarding the meet can be found here and also by going to asugrizzlies.com
 
On the men's side the Grizzlies will be sending Romain Legendre to compete in the 5000m run and Dayton Brown to compete in the 10,000m run. Romain currently leads the nation in the 5000m and is second in the 10,000m.
 
On the women's side the Grizzlies are sending 15 athletes. In the 1500m Elena Carey, Gracie Hyde, Vienna Lahner, and Maggie McCleskey will be racing. Adams State represents 8 of the top 15 spots in the 1500m including a sweep of the 1^st through 4^th sports. Victoria Amiadamen will be running the 400m hurdles. The 3000m steeplechase will feature Gracie Hyde, Morgan Hykes, Emily Schoellkopf, and Ava O'Connor. The Women's Steeplechase group has the fastest event group average in the nation of all divisions. The women lead the average by 16 seconds with an average time of 9.51. Precious Robinson and Brianna Robles will compete Thursday night in the 10,000m run. On day 2 the Grizzlies will run Jessica Simon, Lieke Hoogsteen, and Nicole Lawrence in the 800m and the women's 4x400m relay which consists of Alese Sartain, Isila Apkup, Jessica Simon, and Victoria Amiadamen. The women's 4x4 team broke yet another school record and are currently sitting at 11^th in the nation heading into next week. The 5000m run will be another event to keep an eye on as the group of Gracie Hyde, Morgan Hykes, Maggie McCleskey, Brianna Robles, Tristan Spence, and Emily Schoellkoppf are all in the top 15 for this event. 
 
All the races mentioned above will be preliminaries and have a second day of finals with the exception of the 5000m run and the 10,000m run which will be straight finals.
