Grizzlies Face Tough Test at Home Against High-Scoring WTAMU

ALAMOSA, Colo. – Adams State women's soccer kicks off its home opener today at 3 p.m. against West Texas A&M University.

WTAMU (1-0) opened the season with a 4-2 win over Western Colorado. The Buffaloes took 22 shots, with 10 on goal.

Reagan Matacale led WTAMU with two goals on five shots, while Madison Stokes added one goal and two assists. The Buffaloes allowed two goals on 15 shots, with goalkeeper Reagan Heelan making eight saves.

Adams State (0-1-1) began the season with a loss to Lubbock Christian and a draw with Eastern New Mexico. The Grizzlies have taken 22 shots over two games, scoring just one goal.

Karlee Caballero scored the lone goal for the Grizzlies on six shots, and Denali Levin added one assist. Goalkeeper Ashlyn Bartley recorded three saves but allowed three goals on 12 shots faced.

With the Grizzlies seeking more offensive output and WTAMU demonstrating early-season firepower, this game could hinge on which side capitalizes on key scoring opportunities and maintains defensive stability. Both teams have shown potential, and fans can expect an exciting contest. The game kicks off Friday, Sept. 13, at 3 p.m. at the Adams State Soccer Fields.
