Grizzlies Fight Hard but Fall to CSU Pueblo in Four Sets

Alamosa, Colo. – Adams State fought hard but ultimately fell to CSU-Pueblo in a four-set battle on Tuesday night. Despite their efforts, the Grizzlies couldn't overcome the Thunderwolves, dropping the match 3-1 (17-25, 25-22, 22-25, 21-25).

Adams State started the night slow, struggling to find their rhythm offensively hitting -.073 on the set. While the Thunderwolves only hit .088 they had 7 less errors than the 12 Adams State had and finished the set 25-17.

The second set saw the Grizzlies come alive, finishing with 15 kills and only 4 errors to hit .275. Hadleigh Richardson recorded 4 kills on 11 swings. The Grizzlies held CSU-Pueblo to .175. Katie Bauer and Anna Huggins each added 3 kills and 1 block apiece on their way to winning 25-22.

"We played hard for 20 out of 25 points, but those five points we left on the table were difference makers in every set we played. We are getting closer to playing our style of volleyball and are seeing improvements in different areas in each match, and in the next coming days our team is going to become very familiar with who Randy Moss is," said Head Coach Garcia Ramser.

The third set saw the score swing in CSU-Pueblo's favor winning in opposite fashion 25-22. They ended with 12 kills on 41 swings. While the Grizzlies only recorded 8 kills on 37 swings. The Grizzlies tried but fell short on regrouping in the fourth set, recording 18 kills and 2 blocks on their way to a 25-21 loss in the fourth set.

With this loss, Adams State moves to a 2-9 record, while CSU-Pueblo improves to 7-3 on the season. The Grizzlies will look to rebound at home on Friday when they face South Dakota Mines.
