The Grizzlies take a Home Win in a Dominating Performance Against Chadron State

ALAMOSA, COLORADO Adams State won in a dominating performance against Chadron State 82-59 at home on January 16, 2025. The Grizzlies held the lead from the start of the game until the end, outscoring Chadron State in all four quarters.

Adams State leaned on strong performances from Taejhuan Hill, Kiiyani Anitielu, and Angelline Nageak who combined for 53 of the Grizzlies' 82 points. Taejhuan finished with a double-double, scoring 21 points and grabbing 10 boards, while going 7-15 from the floor, and 7-8 from the free-throw line. Kiiyani Anitielu and Angelline Nageak followed suit with 17 and 15 points respectively. The two finished 12-22 from the floor and drained four three-pointers. Angelline Nageak also shined on the defensive side of the floor collecting five steals, and leading the Grizzlies to a dominating defensive showing throughout the entire game.

The Grizzlies sealed the game with their strong defense in the third quarter, outscoring Chadron by 10 points, holding them to 8 points in the quarter, and extending their lead to 20 points going into the fourth quarter. The Grizzlies' outstanding defense held the Eagles to 13.33% from the floor while also not allowing the Eagles to hit a single three-point shot in the quarter.

The Eagles did show some fight in the fourth quarter, scoring 19 points and shooting 50% from the floor while hitting two three-pointers.

The Grizzlies' strong defense was the difference maker in the game, forcing 28 Chadron turnovers, and collecting 17 steals. Along with their strong ability to force turnovers, the Grizzlies held Chadron to 36.5% from the floor and 36.8% from behind the 3-point line.

The Grizzlies will look to continue to play strong, as they continue conference play, as they take on South Dakota School of Mines on Saturday, January 18th at 1 p.m.
