PUEBLO, Colo. — The Adams State women's basketball team couldn't overcome a strong second-quarter push by CSU Pueblo, falling 77-60 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play Thursday night at Massari Arena.
The Grizzlies (10-8, 5-4 RMAC) kept the game close early, trailing by just four points after the first quarter. However, the ThunderWolves (12-5, 7-2 RMAC) erupted for 30 points in the second period, taking control of the game with a double-digit lead they maintained the rest of the way.
Adams State forced 25 turnovers and recorded 13 steals, but their offensive struggles made it difficult to mount a comeback. The Grizzlies shot just 31.1% from the field and 19.4% from beyond the arc.
Angelline Nageak led Adams State with 16 points, including four 3-pointers, while also tallying four steals and six assists. Taejhuan Hill added a team-high 19 points and eight rebounds, shooting 9-of-15 from the floor. Kiiyani Anitielu contributed seven points and six rebounds but struggled offensively, hitting just 2-of-15 shots.
CSU Pueblo's Alisha Little led with 24 points and 17 rebounds, while Landri Hudson and Brynae Stewart chipped in with 12 and nine points, respectively.
The ThunderWolves shot an efficient 47.3% from the field, including 36.4% from 3-point range, and held a commanding 47-35 advantage in rebounds.
Adams State will look to bounce back Saturday when they head to Colorado Christian.
