Grizzlies Fall to Colorado Mesa on the Road

Grand Junction, Colo. — The Adams State men's soccer team dropped a 5–0 decision to Colorado Mesa on Friday afternoon at Community Hospital Unity Field in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) play.

The Mavericks struck early in the 12th minute and carried that momentum through the second half, netting four more goals to seal the match.

Despite the loss, the Grizzlies showed resilience in goal, with three different keepers seeing action. Joshua Kropf made three saves in 66 minutes, Henry Huffstetler and Lars Ostermann added one in relief.

Adams State tallied seven total shots, with Tim Mietenkorte and Jonathan Vazquez-Morales both placing one on frame to test Colorado Mesa keeper Nathan Beck, who recorded the shutout with three saves.

Jett McTavish received a yellow card late in the match as the Grizzlies continued to battle defensively against a strong Maverick attack that fired 23 total shots and earned 13 corner kicks.

With the result, Adams State falls to 1–8–1 overall and 0–4–0 in RMAC play, while Colorado Mesa improves to 4–4–2 and 1–1–1 in conference.

The Grizzlies continue their road trip Sunday, heading to Salt Lake City to face Westminster. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
