Alamosa, Colo. – The Adams State men's soccer team put together a competitive effort on Thursday afternoon but ultimately fell 4–2 to CSU Pueblo at the ASU Soccer & Lacrosse Field.
The ThunderWolves opened the scoring in the 20th minute when So Nagano found the back of the net off an assist from Nick Cenek. Nagano struck again just eight minutes later, putting CSU Pueblo up 2–0.
Adams State answered in the 37th minute as Avery Richards netted his fifth goal of the season, assisted by Gabriel Bowlin-Stacy, cutting the deficit to 2–1 heading into halftime.
Richards continued his strong play after the break, striking again in the 54th minute on an assist from Caleb Avila to bring the Grizzlies level at 2–2. However, the ThunderWolves regained momentum as Cenek scored twice—once in the 61st and again in the 73rd minute—to seal the win for the visitors.
Joshua Kropf tallied three saves in goal for the Grizzlies, who registered six total shots in the match.
With the loss, Adams State moves to 1–10–1 overall and 0–6–0 in RMAC play, while CSU Pueblo improves to 5–1–7 (1–1–3 RMAC).
The Grizzlies will return to action Sunday when they head to UCCS at 12 p.m.
