Alamosa, Colo. — Adams State men's soccer struck first but couldn't hold off a second-half surge from Colorado School of Mines, falling 3–1 on Friday afternoon at the ASU Soccer & Lacrosse Field.
The Grizzlies opened the scoring in the 21st minute when Eric Kidson found the back of the net off a setup from Avery Richards. The goal marked Kidson's third of the season and gave Adams State an early 1–0 lead.
Mines answered 12 minutes later with a goal from Avi Levin, sending the match into halftime tied 1–1. The Orediggers took control late in the second half, scoring twice in a two-minute span — with J McGill netting the go-ahead goal in the 81st minute and Hudson Waddell adding another shortly after.
Lars Ostermann made seven saves in goal for Adams State, keeping the Grizzlies within reach despite facing 12 shots on target from the Orediggers. Kidson led the offensive effort with a team-high four shots, including three on frame.
The Grizzlies finished the afternoon with nine total shots and six on goal while recording three corner kicks. Mines improved to 3-6-4 overall and 2-4 in RMAC play, while Adams State moved to 1-12-1 (0-7 RMAC).
The Grizzlies return to action on Halloween, next Friday, heading to Regis University, for a 6 p.m. kickoff.
