Alamosa, Colo. — The Adams State men's soccer team came up short in a 2-1 loss to Colorado Christian on Sunday afternoon at the ASU Soccer Field.
The Grizzlies struck early as Jonathan Vazquez found the back of the net in the fourth minute, giving Adams State a quick 1-0 lead. Despite the early momentum, the Cougars equalized in the 18th minute on a goal from Lucas Peruzo, assisted by Cole Foresman.
Both teams battled evenly through the remainder of the match, but Colorado Christian capitalized late. Peruzo scored his second goal of the afternoon in the 88th minute, this time off a feed from Dylan Hall, to seal the 2-1 victory for the Cougars.
Adams State recorded six shots in the contest, with four on target. Goalkeeper Josh Kropf tallied four saves in 90 minutes of action, keeping the Grizzlies within reach until the closing minutes.
The Grizzlies drop to 1-7-1 overall and 0-2-0 in RMAC play, while Colorado Christian improves to 1-7-1 and 1-0-0 in conference action.
Adams State will look to bounce back next week as they hit the road to continue RMAC play at Colorado Mesa on Friday.
