Pueblo, Colo. – The Adams State women's volleyball team fell to CSU Pueblo 3-1 (21-25, 25-23, 19-25, 12-25) Tuesday night. Despite a strong start and gritty play throughout, the Grizzlies were unable to hold off a potent ThunderWolves offense.
Adams State came out sharp in the opening set, battling to 11 ties before CSU Pueblo pulled away in the final points. The Grizzlies hit .136 with 12 kills to stay competitive early.
The momentum swung in set two as the Grizzlies caught fire, tallying 15 kills and capitalizing on key Pueblo errors to edge out a 25-23 win.
Adams State stormed ahead 10-3 to open the third set, but the ThunderWolves responded quickly, taking advantage of the Grizzlies' hitting struggles (.–027) to reclaim control. The Grizzlies couldn't find their rhythm in the fourth, as CSU Pueblo sealed the match 3-1.
Hadleigh Richardson led the Adams State offense with 14 kills, while Ellie Miller dished out 22 assists and Logan Conlin anchored the defense with 20 digs. The Grizzlies hit .113 as a team and combined for 10 total blocks.
Adams State returns to action Friday in Denver, taking on No. 10 MSU Denver at 6 p.m.
