Odessa, Texas — Adams State men's basketball earned an 81–69 road win over UT Permian Basin on Friday evening at the Falcon Dome, improving to 2–0 on the season behind a dominant three-point shooting performance and strong bench production.
The Grizzlies knocked down 14 three-pointers and shot 50 percent from the field, including a red-hot 6-for-7 night from beyond the arc for Jayce King, who led all scorers with 18 points. Adams State's bench stepped up in a major way, contributing 40 points in the win.
Emilek Jallow and Wyatt Helming each added 13 points, while Luke Williams finished with 9 points, 2 steals, and 2 assists, providing a steady presence on both ends of the floor. Jarmell Johnson chipped in 10 points, and Jaylen Alexander added 9, helping Adams State control the pace from the opening minutes.
Adams State built a 41–31 halftime lead thanks to a 9–0 run midway through the first half and never trailed after the break. The Grizzlies turned defense into offense all night, forcing 17 turnovers and turning them into 26 points.
UTPB stayed alive at the free throw line, going 27-for-36, but shot just 18-for-56 from the field and 6-for-18 from three.
Adams State closes out its Texas road trip on Saturday, traveling to Angelo State to play at 3 p.m. MT.
