Adams State Falls to Western New Mexico 3 sets to 1

ALAMOSA, Colorado — The Grizzlies fall to Western New Mexico three sets to one in tonight's home match. The Grizzlies' loss puts the Grizzlies at a record of 14-11 (8-4 RMAC) as the regular season comes to a close real soon. The Grizzlies have four more matches before the regular season ends and the playoffs begin.

In tonight's match, the Grizzlies struggled to have consistent offense as they couldn't separate themselves from Western New Mexico throughout the four sets. The Grizzlies lost all three sets by 4 points or less, losing set one 27-25, set three 25-23, and set four 25-21. With the inconsistent offense and low hitting percentage, Western New Mexico was able to take tonight's match.

Statistically, today the Grizzlies had the advantage in almost every category outside of total errors and final hitting percentage, which ended up being the difference between the two teams in today's match. Overall, the Grizzlies committed 30 errors compared to the 22 by Western New Mexico. The Grizzlies finished with only a 0.165% hitting percentage compared to Western New Mexico's 0.244% hitting percentage. With Western New Mexico having the advantage in these two categories, the Grizzlies' lead in overall kills, serving aces, and assists did not make a difference in the outcome of today's match.

Individually, the Grizzlies were led by Hadleigh Richardson, Olivia Lunt, Makylee Wilson, and Peyton Priddy. Richardson finished with 13 kills and 2 blocks, with her 13 kills leading the Grizzlies. Lunt finished second in kills, tied with Wilson, with a total of 11. Lunt also finished with 3 digs and 1 assist, while Wilson finished with 1 assist and 2 digs. Priddy followed the lead of Richardson, Lunt, and Wilson as she collected 13 assists, which was second for the Grizzlies, while also collecting 6 digs in the match.

Up next for the Grizzlies is Colorado Christian University this upcoming Saturday, November 8th, at 3 PM MST. The match will be held in Lakewood, Colorado, at the home of CCU and will be an opportunity for the Grizzlies to move up in the RMAC standings. Currently, the Grizzlies are sitting in sixth place, tied with Colorado Mesa with four more RMAC matches left. With the final four matches remaining, the Grizzlies will look to continue playing well, securing themselves in the RMAC tournament for the first time under the leadership of Coach Ramser.
