Adams State Indoor Track and Field Selected to Finish Third for Both the Men and Women

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado — With the release of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference 2025-26 Indoor Track Preseason Coaches' Poll, the Grizzlies are selected to finish third in conference for both the Men and the Women. The Women are selected third after returning Ava O'Connor and Tristian Spence, who were both selected as Preseason All-RMAC this year. The Men are selected third after returning Kidus Begashaw, Housem Hrabi, and Sam Dirkes, who were all selected as Preseason All-RMAC this year.

Looking closer at the Women's Coaches' Poll, the Grizzlies were selected third after receiving 2 First-Place votes and 5 Third-Place votes, giving them 154 points total in the poll. The Men were selected third in the Coaches' Poll after receiving 1 First-Place vote, 2 Second-Place votes, and 5 Third-Place votes for a total of 111 points in the poll. As for the rest of the Poll, the Men's and Women's top three were the same, with Colorado School of Mines being selected to win the conference and UCCS being selected to finish in second place, with the Grizzlies in third for both the Men and Women.

Following the top three for the Women was New Mexico Highlands in fourth with 145 points, Colorado Mesa in fifth with 142 points, Western Colorado in sixth with 140 points, CSU Pueblo in seventh with 128 points, MSU Denver in eighth with 99 points, Chadron State in ninth with 84 points, Black Hills State in tenth with 80 points, Fort Lewis in eleventh with 79 points, South Dakota Mines in twelfth with 57 points, Colorado Christian in thirteenth with 49 points, Westminster in fourteenth with 24 points, and Regis rounding out the Conference in fifteenth with 23 points.

On the Men's side following the top three was CSU Pueblo in fourth with 104 points, Colorado Mesa in fifth with 100 points, Western Colorado in sixth with 97 points, MSU Denver in seventh with 76 points, Chadron State in eighth with 70 points, Fort Lewis in ninth with 52 points, South Dakota Mines in tenth with 50 points, Black Hills State in eleventh with 45 points, Colorado Christian in twelfth with 33 points, and Westminster rounding out the conference in thirteenth with 14 points.

For the Grizzlies, they will look to build off of the 2024-25 season in which the Men placed third in the RMAC tournament and fourth at the NCAA National Tournament, and the Women finished in seventh place in the RMAC tournament and twentieth at the NCAA National Tournament. Having three events with Preseason All-RMAC selections for the Women and four for the men, the Adams State Indoor Track teams will look to have an outstanding 2025-26 season, looking to capture another National Title for the University.

The seven events the Grizzlies captured All-RMAC Selections for the Men and Women's Adams State teams were Ava O'Connor and Tristian Spence for the Women, and Housem Hrabi, Kidus Begashaw, and Sam Dirkes for the men. Ava O'Connor received recognition for both the Mile and the 3000-meter race, while Tristian Spence was selected for the 5000-meter race. On the Men's side, Housem Hrabi received recognition for the Mile, Kidus Begashaw received recognition for both the 3000 and 5000 meter races, and Sam Dirkes received recognition for the Shot Put.

Both the Men and Women will open up their seasons this Saturday, December 6th, in two separate events. These events will be the Sharon Colyear-Daniville Opener in Boston, MA, and the other being the Mountaineer Open in Gunnison, CO. Keep track of the Grizzlies Indoor track season as both the Men and Women seek to capture greatness in the 2025-26 season.
