Spearfish, S.D. – The Adams State women's basketball team continued their strong run in RMAC play, taking down Black Hills State 77-69 on the road Thursday night. With the win, the Grizzlies improve to 18-10 (13-6 RMAC), solidifying their No. 3 position in the conference standings.
Adams State saw a balanced offensive attack, led by Kiiyani Anitielu, who poured in a game-high 26 points on 10-of-15 shooting, including 2-of-4 from beyond the arc. Taejhuan Hill added another double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds, while Ri'Ahana Davis chipped in 13 points and six rebounds.
The Grizzlies overcame a slow first half, where they were outscored 37-34, by turning up the intensity after halftime. A strong 22-point third quarter helped Adams State reclaim the lead, and they closed the game with a solid defensive effort, after Black Hills got into foul trouble late in the game.
Despite Black Hills State's Kalla Bertram leading all scorers with 28 points, the Grizzlies' 40 points in the paint and 38 total rebounds looked to be the difference maker for Adams State.
The Grizzlies will have one final game on Saturday, when they travel to Chadron State, before making a quick turnaround for the first round of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Tournament on Tuesday. While it is still undetermined if the Grizzlies will host the first round of the playoffs, a win Saturday would guarantee a home contest.
