STANFORD, Calif. – The Adams State track and field team made a strong statement at the Stanford Invitational, sending three athletes to compete in the 10,000 meters. All three turned in standout performances, easily hitting NCAA Division II provisional qualifying marks.
Aron Orar kicked things off in the morning section of the men's 10,000 meters, claiming a commanding section win with a time of 29:03.91. Facing a competitive field of Division I and Division II athletes, Orar ran a tactical race—tucking in behind the leader for most of the race before unleashing a powerful final 300-meter surge to take the win.
In Friday night's Section 1 final, Dayton Brown delivered one of the fastest performances in Division II history. His time of 28:08.58 ranks seventh all-time at the DII level and second on the Adams State record board. Against a deep field of top-tier Division I athletes, Brown finished just shy of the program record but now owns the fastest time in the NCAA this season.
On the women's side, Brianna Robles held her own in a loaded heat of the 10,000 meters. The only Division II runner in the field, Robles crossed the line in 12th place with a time of 32:50.18—just 0.15 seconds off her personal best and narrowly missing breaking her own Adams State record.
