Kearney, Neb. – Adams State volleyball dropped its opening match of the Rosella Meier Fall Classic on Friday afternoon, falling in straight sets (16-25, 19-25, 15-25) to No. 8 Nebraska–Kearney at the Health & Sports Center.
The Grizzlies (2-4) showed flashes against the nationally ranked Lopers (7-0), highlighted by strong offensive contributions from Hadleigh Richardson, who tallied a team-high 10 kills while hitting .409. Richardson has had an impressive start to the season, tallying 88 kills which is nearly half of her 172 from the 2024 season. Rowan Tribelhorn added seven kills and two blocks, and Katie Bauer chipped in five kills on a .200 clip.
Adams State setters kept the offense moving with Ellie Miller dishing out 15 assists along with two kills and a service ace, while Isabella DeLaRosa added 10 assists and an ace of her own. Defensively, Ashlyn Jones anchored the back row with 12 digs, while Richardson also picked up six.
As a team, the Grizzlies collected 36 kills on a .176 hitting percentage and posted four total blocks.
Nebraska–Kearney showcased its top-10 strength with a .400 team hitting percentage, led by Emilee Lane's 12 kills on a .435 clip and Mia Berg's 10 kills without an error.
Adams State continues play in the Rosella Meier Fall Classic on Friday with a match against University of Sioux Falls at 3 p.m. MT.
