Adams State Falls to Colorado Mesa in Non-Conference Match

Alamosa, Colo. – Adams State men's soccer returned home to ASU Soccer Field on Wednesday afternoon, falling 5-0 to Colorado Mesa in a non-conference matchup.

The Mavericks struck quickly, finding the net just under two minutes into the contest. They added two more goals in the opening 15 minutes to build an early cushion before carrying a 3-0 lead into halftime.

Colorado Mesa's Matteo Bonelli recorded a hat trick to pace the Maverick attack, while Manuel Ponce Casas and Nathan Hernandez also tallied goals.

The Grizzlies battled throughout, generating eight shots, three of which were on frame, but were unable to break through against CMU goalkeeper Nathan Beck, who finished with three saves for the shutout.

Adams State split time in goal, with Joshua Kropf starting the first half and making one save, while Lars Ostermann came on for the second half and stopped three shots.

The Grizzlies move to 1-4-1 overall on the season and will look to bounce back as they finish non-conference play this Friday at home.
