SAN ANGELO, Texas — The Adams State Women's Volleyball team dominated in their third match of the season with a 3-0 sweep over Arkansas Monticello. The Adams Women handled all three sets in today's first match, putting them at a record of 2-1 on the season.
Handling all three sets in today's first match, the Grizzlies were able to win each set by 9 or more points. In set one, they came fast and strong, taking the first set by a score of 25-13. The Grizzlies never slowed down in the second or third set as they were able to continue their dominance, taking set two by a score of 25-15, and finishing out the clean sweep with a third set where they again were able to win by a commanding margin, taking the set by a score of 25-16. Overall, the Grizzlies were able to outscore Arkansas Monticello by a score of 54-30.
The dominance by the Grizzlies was not only shown by the overall score but also in the individual statistics between the two teams. Starting with kills, the Grizzly women handled Arkansas Monticello, recording 43 compared to Monticello's 27. Looking next at aces, the Grizzlies recorded 6, whereas Monticello was not able to record a single ace in the match. The Grizzlies also were able to handle the Boll Weevils in blocks, assists, and digs. In blocks, the Grizzlies recorded 5 to the Boll Weevils' 3; assists were heavily one-sided, with the Grizzlies recording 40 to only 26 by the Boll Weevils; and in digs, Adams was able to collect 48 to the 38 that Monticello was able to collect.
Individually, the Grizzlies had a few standout women who led the Grizzlies to this victory. These standouts included Hadleigh Richardson, Olivia Lunt, Katie Bauer, and Logan Conlin. Starting with Richardson, who had an outstanding third match of the year, she was able to collect 12 kills, 1 ace, and 8 digs in the match. Richardson truly had an all-around great performance in today's first match of the day. Lunt also had an all-around great match, collecting 10 kills and 3 blocks, being a defensive anchor for the Grizzlies. Next, looking at Bauer's performance, she collected 5 kills and 3 blocks in the match. The final standout for the Grizzlies was Conlin, who led the team with 2 aces and 12 digs.
The Grizzlies will look to finish their first road trip with yet another commanding win in their fourth and final match of their Texas trip. The Grizzlies will play their final match against Southern Nazarene University later today at 2:30 PM MST. The match will again be played in San Angelo, Texas, and will allow the Grizzlies to finish 3-1 coming into their home opener next week on September 10th.
