Alamosa, Colo. — Adams State honored its seniors Saturday night and followed with a 93-83 victory over Chadron State inside Plachy Hall.
Prior to tipoff, the Grizzlies recognized Wyatt Helming, Luke Williams, Dillan Baker, Jaylen Alexander and Jarmell Johnson alongside manager Kai Smith as part of Senior Night festivities. The group made the most of the moment, combining for 64 points in the win.
Adams State improved to 17-9 overall and 11-7 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play, while Chadron State fell to 6-20 overall and 4-14 in conference action.
The Grizzlies took control early, building a 42-26 lead at halftime behind efficient offense and strong defensive pressure. Adams State shot 42.9% from the field in the opening half and connected on six 3-pointers.
Chadron State poured in 57 points in the second half, but Adams State countered with 51 of its own. The Grizzlies were especially sharp after the break, shooting 65.5% from the floor to secure the win.
Johnson led the way with 17 points, while Williams added 16. Baker finished with 15 points, and Helming recorded 12 points and eight rebounds. Alexander added four points and eight rebounds in his final home appearance.
As a team, Adams State shot 53.1% from the field, held a 39-37 rebounding edge and totaled 38 points in the paint. The Grizzlies also added 29 fast-break points.
Adams State returns to action next week as they close out RMAC play on the road, facing UCCS and CSU Pueblo to finish the regular season.
