Senior Day Spark Fuels Grizzlies’ 78-52 Win

Alamosa, Colo. – Senior Day belonged to the Grizzlies during the Saturday matinee at home.

Adams State rolled past Chadron State College, 78-52, behind a dominant second quarter and a balanced scoring attack. Three players scored in double figures, and the Grizzlies forced 16 turnovers to seal the win.

After trailing by one at the end of the first quarter, Adams State flipped the momentum in the second. The Grizzlies erupted for a 29-11 quarter, turning defensive pressure into offense and creating a gap the Eagles could not close.

With four seniors playing their final game at home, the tone was set early. Kiiyani Anitielu led the way with 16 points, shooting 6-of-11 from the field and 4-of-8 from 3-point range.

Ashiian Hunter added 14 points in just 19 minutes, along with three rebounds and two steals. Mia Ervin chipped in 13 points and seven rebounds to round out the double-digit scorers.

Adams State shot 41.4% from the field and poured in 41 bench points. The Grizzlies also turned defense into offense, scoring 30 points off turnovers.

The senior quartet, Anitielu, Jaden Ferris, Brooklyn Long and Elaina Watson, combined for 28 points and six steals in a final home performance that matched the moment.

The Grizzlies will hit the road next week playing their final two games of the regular season against UCCS and CSU Pueblo before heading into the post season.
