Alamosa, Colo. – Adams State Athletic Director Katelyn Smith announced Tuesday that Andre Foster has been named the university's new head volleyball coach.
"We are excited to welcome Andre to the Grizzly family," said Smith. "He brings a strong background in program building and leadership, and we are confident he will continue to elevate our volleyball program."
Foster arrives at Adams State after serving at the University of New Haven, where he helped guide the Chargers through their transition to the Division I level beginning with the 2025 season. In their first year competing at the Division I level, the Chargers posted a 5-22 overall record.
Prior to his time at New Haven, Foster spent one season at Nichols College as the head coach of both the men's and women's volleyball programs. He led the men's team to a 24-5 record while the women's team finished 6-19.
Before his time at Nichols, Foster served as the Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator at Xavier University in Cincinnati, OH, from August 2022 to December 2023. In this role, he played a key part in recruiting efforts and athlete evaluations while focusing on coaching the team's blockers and middles. His ability to develop strong relationships with student-athletes, coaches, and club contacts was instrumental in the Musketeers' success.
Prior to Xavier, Foster worked as a Graduate Assistant at Purdue University Fort Wayne (August 2021- July 2022), where he ran the defense and blocking for the team and played an integral role in recruiting and player evaluations.
Foster's experience across multiple programs and competitive levels positions him well to lead the Adams State women's volleyball program. His commitment to student-athlete development and leadership will play an important role in building a competitive and successful team.
