Adams State Earns 18 All-RMAC Honors, Adds National Athlete of the Year

Colorado Springs, Colo. — Adams State placed 18 athletes on the All-RMAC indoor track and field teams, the conference office announced Thursday.

The Grizzlies totaled 13 first-team selections and five second-team honors, continuing their strong presence across the conference. Earlier this week, senior Ava O'Connor was named the USTFCCCA National Track Athlete of the Year, adding to the program's national recognition.

On the men's side, Adams State was led by a group of distance runners and a standout field athlete. Harrison Boyd, a sophomore, earned first-team honors in the mile with a time of 4 minutes, 12.8 seconds. Senior Felix Perrier (8:21.4), senior Juan Rosales (8:22.1) and freshman Thibault Tauziede (8:29.0) each secured first-team recognition in the 3,000 meters.

Senior Sam Dirkes represented the field events with a first-team selection in the shot put, recording a mark of 18.61 meters (61 feet, 0.75 inches).

Nathan Scherbarth (8:32.7) and Julian Campos (8:34.2), both seniors, earned second-team honors in the 3,000 meters.

The women's team also delivered a strong showing, highlighted by multiple first-team performances and a dominant distance medley relay squad.

Senior Lieke Hoogsteen earned first-team honors in the 800 meters with a time of 2:07.7, while seniors Maggie McCleskey (4:54.6) and O'Connor (4:55.2) were named to the first team in the mile. Junior Lea Navarro added a first-team selection in the 5,000 meters with a time of 17:59.4.

Adams State's distance medley relay team of Hoogsteen, Isila Apkup, Marie Garret and O'Connor earned first-team recognition after posting a time of 11:50.1.

Second-team honors on the women's side went to sophomore Clara Keddy in the mile (5:07.0), junior Tanya Bouet in the 3,000 meters (10:26.2) and junior Keira Damron in the 5,000 meters (18:19.2).

The all-conference selections cap a strong indoor season for the Grizzlies as they turn their focus toward national competition.
