Pueblo, Colo. – The Grizzlies closed out the 2026 RMAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Sunday. Three Adams State athletes,
Maggie McCleskey,
Lauren Ocampo, and
Addison Bisceglie, earned All-Conference honors and achieved marks that moved them up the national rankings significantly.
The 400m final saw
El-Mir Reale open up the day for the Grizzly men. He placed ninth in the final of the 400m with a time of 49.03. The 1500m final saw
Devin Provence finish tenth (4:00.28) in a tactical affair with a very quick second half. His tenth place finish was well above his seeding coming into the meet.
Gabe Onelio was the lone Grizzly in the 800m final with
Jack Gumm withdrawing from the race due to injury. Onelio ran a fine race for sixth place with a time of 1:52.01.
Keegan Geldean faced warm and windy conditions in the 5000m final. The true freshman ran a gritty race to place 18th in 15:44.79, finishing several places ahead of his conference ranking prior to the race. The 4x400m relay closed out the competition. The Adams State team of
Gavin Heyneman, Xavier Gutierrez,
Evan Tapia, and
Ryan Chacon finished eighth with a clocking of 3:19.41, the fastest time by the Grizzlies this season.
Lauren Ocampo was the first Adams State athlete to compete on the women's side of the competition, and she made sure to start the Grizzlies off on the right foot. Turning in a new personal best throw of 44.74m, she nabbed another second place, All-Conference finish. This mark moves her up to the #22 spot in DII, and on the bubble for qualifying for the national championship.
Addison Bisceglie kept the momentum going in the 1500m final, where she achieved an All-Conference third place finish. Her time of 4:31.88 moves her up to #21 on the national list after the adjustment for altitude. This will give her a very solid shot at qualifying for the national meet. Also competing well in the 1500m was
Clara Keddy in sixth (4:39.28),
Aspen Fulbright in ninth (4:45.44), and
Emma Robinson in 10th (4:45.96).
The 5000m saw
Maggie McCleskey earn another All-Conference finish in second place. Her time of 17:01.04, when adjusted for altitude, ranks her 16th in the nation and puts her in a relatively safe position for national qualifying.
Keira Damron placed eighth for the Grizzlies in 18:05.21, and
Olivia Coulston doubled back from the 10000m to place 18th in 18:35.30.
The next two weekends will see the Adams State athletes in pursuit of national qualifying marks and personal bests. A select group of Grizzlies will travel to Grand Junction next Friday and Saturday for Colorado Mesa's Western Slope Conversion Classic.
