PLAINVIEW, Texas — A pair of second-half goals from Keira Robertson and a shutout in goal from Kena Keyes pushed Adams State women's soccer past Wayland Baptist, 2-0, Thursday afternoon at J.V. Hilliard Field.

After a scoreless opening 45 minutes, the Grizzlies found another gear in the second half. Adams State produced nine of its 13 shots after halftime while holding Wayland Baptist to three second-half attempts.

The breakthrough came in the 66th minute.

Lorena Vargas-Galvan nearly opened the scoring at 63:25 when her attempt struck the crossbar. Less than three minutes later, she helped create the chance Adams State needed. Vargas-Galvan connected with Robertson, who found the back of the net at 66:02 to give the Grizzlies a 1-0 advantage.

Wayland Baptist continued to search for an equalizer and came close in the closing minutes. Erin Carr hit the post in the 86th minute, keeping the Grizzlies' one-goal advantage intact.

Robertson then slammed the door.

With less than two minutes remaining, Annabell Haugen set up Robertson for her second goal of the afternoon at 88:11, giving Adams State the 2-0 advantage.

Robertson made the most of her opportunities, putting all four of her shots on frame and scoring twice. Vargas-Galvan finished with two shots and an assist, while Haugen added the assist on the final goal.
The Grizzlies also delivered on the defensive end. Keyes played all 90 minutes in goal and stopped all four shots she faced to secure the clean sheet.

Adams State finished the match with a 13-8 advantage in shots and a 10-4 edge in shots on goal. Wayland Baptist held a 3-2 advantage in corner kicks.
