Grizzly Men's Soccer Drops 2nd Game of Season 2-0 to Lubbock Christian

LUBBOCK, Texas — Adams State University Men's Soccer dropped a 2-0 decision to Lubbock Christian University on Saturday afternoon, as the Chaparrals used a goal in each half to secure the victory. With the loss, the Grizzlies fall to 0-2 to begin the 2026 season.

Adams State struggled to generate consistent offensive pressure throughout the match, finishing with just one shot. Junior forward Ryan Harcrow recorded the Grizzlies' lone attempt, which was on target.

Lubbock Christian controlled much of the attacking action, finishing the afternoon with 24 shots, including eight on goal.

The Chaparrals opened the scoring early, finding the back of the net in the seventh minute to take a 1-0 advantage. Despite the early deficit, the Grizzlies' defense settled in and kept Lubbock Christian off the scoreboard for the remainder of the first half.

Adams State continued to battle defensively after halftime, keeping the Chaparrals within a one-goal margin until the 67th minute. Lubbock Christian added its second goal of the afternoon to extend its lead to 2-0, which would ultimately stand as the final score.

While the Grizzlies were unable to find the offensive breakthrough, the defensive effort kept Adams State in the match and provided an opportunity to remain within reach of Lubbock Christian late in the contest. Goalkeeper Lars Ostermann provided a strong effort for the Grizzlies, playing all 90 minutes and recording five saves to keep Adams State within striking distance throughout the contest.

Adams State will now turn its attention toward its next opportunity to earn its first victory of the season. The Grizzlies will travel to Goodwell, Oklahoma, on Tuesday, September 1, to take on Oklahoma Panhandle State University. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. MST. Tuesday's matchup will give Adams State an opportunity to get into the win column, as Oklahoma Panhandle State also enters the contest searching for its first victory of the season. The Grizzlies battled Oklahoma Panhandle State to a tie last season and will look to build on that experience when the two teams meet again.

Fans can follow Tuesday's match through the live stream and live statistics available through the Adams State Athletics website.
