ALAMOSA, Colorado — The Adams State men's soccer team battled Colorado School of Mines to a 0-0 draw on Wednesday, September 16, at the ASU Soccer Field. Despite a strong second-half offensive performance, the Grizzlies were unable to find the back of the net, settling for a tie in today's match.
The opening half saw both teams battle for possession and opportunities, with Colorado School of Mines holding a slight advantage in offensive production. The Orediggers recorded five shots compared to just one from Adams State, while earning four corner kicks to the Grizzlies' three.
Adams State goalkeeper Bryan Amezcua kept the Grizzlies level, making two saves in the opening half to keep the match scoreless heading into halftime.
In the second half of today's match it became much more physical, with both teams receiving multiple cautions throughout the second half. Colorado School of Mines had a player shown a red card in the 52nd minute, forcing the Orediggers to continue the match with 10 players. With the advantage in players for the majority of the second half, Adams State continued to battle and maintain pressure throughout, recording 10 shots in the second half compared to five from Colorado School of Mines. The Grizzlies also earned four second-half corner kicks, finishing the match with a 7-6 advantage in total corners.
Leading the way for the Grizzlies today was Jonathan Vazquez-Morales who finished with three shots, including two on goal. Caleb Avila, Levi Levin, and Kaidin Reese each added a shot on target, while Joshua Negron and Ben Bradford also contributed offensively with Negron recording one shot and Bradford recording two shots.
Overall in today's match, the Grizzlies finished with 11 shots, 5 of which were on goal. In the match the Grizzlies outshot the Orediggers by 1 and recorded 2 more shots on goal.

After today's tie, the Grizzlies will look towards their next match which will be this Sunday, September 20th at 1 p.m. MST. Sunday's match will be held in Rapid City, South Dakota the home of South Dakota Mines.
