ASU vs. Texas Woman's - Live Stats
ALAMOSA, Colo. (November 14, 2014)—The Adams State University Grizzlies women's basketball team will be participating in the Fourth Annual Ashbrook Classic presented by Comfort Inn & Suites today, Nov. 14, and tomorrow, Nov. 15. The tournament will be held at the D.L. Ligon Coliseum on the campus of Midwestern State University. In tonight's matchup, the Grizzlies will be playing against the Midwestern State University Mustangs while tomorrow they will squaring off against the Texas Woman's College Pioneers.
For the Grizzlies, tonight will be their first regular season game of the 2014-15 season after their Nov. 6 exhibition matchup with the Weber State University Wildcats. The Grizzlies lost that game 84-68. For MWSU, who are receiving votes in the latest Top 25 Poll, tonight marks their first regular season game as well after losing to Baylor University by a score of 99-56 in their exhibition matchup on Nov. 4. In tonight's contest, the Grizzlies are going to have to find a defensive answer to the Mustangs senior duo of guards Lisa Hampton and Andrea Carter. Hampton knocked down a pair of 3-pointers for six points, while Carter finished with six points and five rebounds in their outing against Baylor.
In the exhibition match against Weber State,
Emilie Klint and guard
Desiree Anderson both led the Grizzlies offensively, scoring 19 points apiece. The health of senior guard
Mariah Gonzales will determine the direction of the game for ASU. She missed the exhibition matchup against the Wildcats due to an apparent leg injury. She led the Grizzlies a year ago with 11 ppg.
Tomorrow the Grizzlies play against the Texas Woman's College Pioneers. TWC has played one exhibition matchup against Hardin-Simmons University on Nov. 5. The Pioneers won that game 83-50 largely due to the performances of sophomore guard Kenesha Saygo. Saygo scored a game-high 19 points, while senior Ashley Salazar added 11 points in the Pioneers victory.
Tonight's game against MWSU is scheduled for a 7 p.m. tipoff while tomorrow game against TWC will be played at 5:00p.m.
