ALAMOSA, Colo. – Adams State University and the women's basketball program have announced the addition of Bianca Gutierrez as an assistant coach, bringing extensive coaching, recruiting, and player development experience to the Grizzlies.
Gutierrez joins Adams State after spending the past four seasons as an assistant coach at Seward County Community College in Liberal, Kansas. During her time with the Saints, Gutierrez helped guide the program to multiple successful seasons while developing student-athletes who earned conference recognition and opportunities to continue their careers at the Division I level.
Gutierrez was promoted to head assistant coach for the 2025-26 season, helping lead Seward County to a 20-12 record and a second-round appearance in the conference tournament. During the season, she coached KJCCC Player of the Year Avery Marchino, who averaged 20.5 points and 7.2 rebounds per game while shooting 43.2 percent from three-point range in conference play. The Saints also had two players earn All-Conference Honorable Mention honors, while Marchino earned First Team recognition.
Throughout her time at Seward County, Gutierrez played a key role in recruiting, scouting, player development, and program operations. Her responsibilities included in-game statistics, scouting reports, skill development sessions, film breakdown, recruiting coordination, team logistics, and student-athlete development.
Before joining Seward County, Gutierrez served as a graduate assistant and head junior varsity coach at Briar Cliff University from 2020-22. During her time with the Chargers, she helped the program reach the national tournament for the first time in six years during the 2021-22 season while earning a national Top 25 ranking. Briar Cliff also made back-to-back conference tournament appearances during her tenure.
At Briar Cliff, Gutierrez led the junior varsity program while assisting with varsity scouting, offensive game planning, player development, academic tracking, equipment management, recruiting, and team operations. She also contributed to film breakdown, social media content, fundraising, and community outreach efforts.
Gutierrez began her collegiate coaching career at Idaho State University as a graduate assistant, where she assisted with student manager supervision and film breakdown.
A former standout player, Gutierrez began her collegiate career at College of the Desert (2014-16), where she ranked third in the state of California in three-point shooting percentage. She later transferred to the University of Maine Fort Kent, where she ranked third nationally in three-point shooting percentage and earned All-American Honorable Mention honors during her senior season.
Gutierrez earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Maine Fort Kent in 2019 and completed her master's degree from Briar Cliff University in 2022.

Gutierrez's addition strengthens an Adams State women's basketball program focused on student-athlete development, academic success, and championship-level competition in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
