ALAMOSA, Colo. (December 4, 2014)—The Adams State University Grizzlies women's basketball team returns to the court this weekend after a prolonged break from action, as they hit the road to participate in their Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference scheduled games against the Colorado State University-Pueblo ThunderWolves on Dec. 5
th and the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs Mountain Lions on Dec. 6th. Both games will begin at 5:30 p.m. MT. Currently the Grizzlies record on the season stands at 0-4.
Meet the PackCSU-Pueblo's record currently stands at 2-2 on the young season. After winning their two first games, CSU-Pueblo received votes in the Nov. 25 edition of the USA TODAY Sports/WBCA Division II Women's Basketball Coaches' Poll. Outside of Colorado Mesa University, they were the only other RMAC team at the time to be ranked or receiving votes. However since their last victory, the Pack has not been able to string together any type of success, dropping two consecutive games in the St. Mary's Classic Tournament in San Antonio. Offensively the Pack are led by junior forward Ashely Piper, who leads the team with 19 ppg. while posting a 47 percent shooting percentage from the field and an impressive 50 percent from beyond the 3-point line. The Grizzlies will also need to find a defensive answer to sophomore center Angie Moore, who posts 13 ppg. As a team, the Pack proves to be a legitimate offensive RMAC threat as the team avergages 70 ppg.
Meet the Mountain LionThe UCCS Mountain Lions currently hold a 5-1 record on the season. After participating in the Tony Corbetta Classic and the UCCS Thanksgiving Basketball Tournament the team has strung together three consecutive victories. The Mountain Lions will open RMAC play against Fort Lewis College on Dec. 5
th before hosting Adams State the following day. As a team, UCCS is an offensive juggernaut who average 77.8 ppg. They are led by the play of senior Abby Kirchoff and sophomore Brit Hernandez. The combined duo equates for almost half of the Mountain Lions offensive output.
